AOII Convention- A Once in a Lifetime Experience

This week, I was fortunate enough to attend AOII’s biennial Convention, a wonderful experience in which I was able to meet Alphas from all over the United States and Canada. We shared ideas on how to grow as sisters, learned how to be effective leaders, and celebrated one another’s accomplishments at award ceremonies.  We also got to lounge by the pool at the beautiful Marriot Starr Pass in Tucson, AZ!

However, colligates were not the only attendees to this celebration. In addition to chapter officers and advisors, AOII alumnae were well represented. Meeting AOIIs of all ages and in different stages of life was a real treat! Alums are not only great storytellers; they are hilarious! One Past International President entertained us with stories about our Fraternity’s founders and another did a rendition of Dontcha by The Pussycat Dolls. Yes, we Alphas know how to have a good time!

By the end of Convention we had a new International President (congratulations Allison Allgier!) and more importantly many new friends! I am grateful to my sisters of Kappa Omicron for allowing me to represent our chapter and to Rachel Lyles, who represented Kappa Omicron as a chapter advisor. The connections I made at Convention are possible because of AOII. Throughout my collegiate years, AOII has offered me so many opportunities, and for that I will always be thankful!

Alpha love,
Katie McCoid
